I’ve played the piano since I was six, and pounded on it since I was tall enough
to climb onto the bench. I hoped to be a concert pianist, but found I had more fun
improvising than practicing. At some point, it occurred to me that I could change my
focus to composing, and refer to my playtime as work.
Since then I’ve earned a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Music
Composition and Technology. I’ve written scores for twelve independent films, as well
as music for dance and other visual media. I’ve studied composition with Keith Carpenter,
Ron Foster, Ilya Levinson, and Emmy award winning composer Hummie Mann. Performers of my
works include Grammy award winning composer/trumpeter Terence Blanchard, and the New Millennium
Orchestra. I am currently pursuing an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia
College Chicago.
I hope my love for the structured blending of sound comes across in every one of my pieces,
and that through it I am able to convey an appreciation for life that I cannot put into words.
